Rinku Singh's Key Contributions in KKR's Win
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India] May 4: Rinku Singh, a batter for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), underscored the significance of saving boundaries on a fast outfield during a recent match.
He expressed his enjoyment of fielding, stating that he prefers it over batting. Rinku acknowledged the vital runs scored by KKR all-rounder Andre Russell and the favorable circumstances he encountered in the closing overs.
“Saving that boundary in the 18.2 over was crucial. This outfield is among the fastest in India. I take pride in my fielding responsibilities and enjoy it, perhaps even more than batting. Russell contributed important runs, although he hasn't been in top form this season. I had the opportunity to play in the last two overs, which was ideal for me; the stage was perfectly set. Our team is performing well, and we aim to keep enjoying our game. We're focusing on one match at a time without overthinking the future,” Rinku Singh remarked during the post-match presentation.
Rinku's impressive 19 runs off six balls helped KKR surpass the 200-run mark, and his boundary-saving efforts were pivotal in securing the victory.
Despite a valiant 95 from skipper Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) fell just short, as KKR maintained their composure to win by a single run at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
In their chase of 207 runs, RR found themselves at 71/5, but a remarkable 92-run partnership between Parag and Shimron Hetmyer, along with explosive performances from Shubham Dubey and Jofra Archer, brought them close to victory. However, the duo was unable to complete a double on the final ball, preventing the match from going into a Super Over.
Currently, KKR sits in sixth place with five wins and five losses, totaling 10 points, while RR is in eighth place with three wins and nine losses, accumulating six points.
